Most artists do some sketching, and it's interesting that some of the drawings of Leonardo Da Vinci are more famous than some of his paintings. Joseph Zbukvic è considerato nel campo dell’acquarello uno dei maestri della contemporaneità. Viaggia ormai in tutto il mondo come insegnante e scova bellezza nei suoi soggetti sia quando lavora all’aperto che nell’intimità del suo studio. Nel 1967 s’iscrisse all’università per studiare lingue e letterature, e quindi diventare insegnante. Tuttavia, nel 1970, a causa dei problemi politici nel suo paese, decise di abbandonare la ex-Yugoslavia per trasferirsi in Australia. Ha studiato all’Università di Dakin, Melbourne, diplomandosi in Arte nel 1974, con una specializzazione in Design Industriale. Ha cominciato a vincere i suoi primi premi nel 1975. Nel 1978 prese la decisione di dedicarsi all’arte a tempo pieno. Ha alle spalle oltre 40 mostre personali. È membro della Victorian Watercolor Society e un insegnante presso la Charles Stuart University (Mitchell School of Art). In the field of watercolour, Joseph Zbukvic is one of the masters of our time. He travels all over the world and finds extraordinary beauty in his subjects, both when he paints en plein air and when he works in his studio. In 1967, he started his university studies in languages and literature in order to pursue a teaching career. Yet, in 1970, due to political unrest, he decided to move from the then Yugoslavia to Australia. He studied at Dakin University (Melbourne) gaining a diploma in Art in 1974, majoring in Industrial Design. He started winning major art awards in 1975. In 1978, he took up painting full time. He has had over 40 solo exhibitions. He is member of the Victorian Watercolour Society and a teacher at Charles Stuart University, Mitchell School of Art. He is also a member of the Australian Watercolour Institute and became a VRC member in 1998. He has won over 200 awards in his career, including the Gold Medal for best painting at the Camberwell Rotary Art Exhibition three times He lives in Melbourne, Australia.
